We will work to help you with your specific therapeutic goals.
Focused on your mental health, emotional or behavioural needs.
A holistic approach helping you to build skills and enjoyment of outdoor activities while also learning how to meet your own mental needs.
Why Outdoor Therapy?
A holistic approach that suits many clients.
Green and Blue Spaces
Authors as far back as ancient greece extolled the benefits to mental and physical health of spending time in natural environments. Many spiritual writers also extol the potential for spiritual benefits though this varies with tradition.
In the modern world it is helpful to clarify these as locations close to growing plants and trees, and / or waterways.
Exercise
Physical exercise is well proven to benefit our physical and mental health. Taking part in exercise that we enjoy makes it far easier to make it part of our regular routines and not another chore.
Activity Benefits
Longer, outdoor activities give the opportunity to help clients build usefull skills, and achieve success in sporting or outdoor skills, and these can be then used theraputically to practice the skills and techniques being worked on for the clients daily environment.

Calm environemnts
Modern research shows time in green and blue spaces can be intrinsically calming, lowering stress markers in the blood tests of people when they spend time away from urban spaces.
Combined benefits
Current evidence clearly shows that the benefits of exercise and the benefits of spending time in green and blue spaces add together on all measures of mental and physical health.
It is reasonable to expect (though not yet proven) that this advantage extends to benefits in delivery of therapies for mental health
Therapy Benefits
Current research shows that in psychotherapy, all named therapies are equally effective.
The biggest predictor of outcomes is the quality of the relationship between the client and the therapist or helping professional.
By engaging in therapy outdoors over longer sessions there is more time to build meaningful trust between the therapist and the client.

1:1 Solution Focused Practice
At SEARCH Adventures, we believe in the power of solutions. Our solution-focused practice sessions are thoughtfully crafted to address your specific challenges in an efficient manner. This is a therapeutic practice delivered on a 1:1 bases or for couples or family groups.
Client Centered
A solution focused approach keeps the client in the driving seat. we work only on what you want to work on, and look to help you find your own solutions based on your own existing skills, and experiences. We do not impose our ideas of what will work for you.
Nature as Your Helper
The beauty of our natural surroundings plays a significant role in the effectiveness of our practice. Conducted outdoors, these sessions not only provide a refreshing change of scenery but also promote a sense of calm and clarity. The serene environment allows clients to open up and engage meaningfully with their thoughts and feelings. Decades of research support the benefits to mental and physical health of spending time in "natural" environments. As well as the talking therapies you will learn new skills and work towards competence in new sports in one or more outdoor environement.

Why Outdoors?
Longer sessions, delivered outdoors through the medium of adventure or wilderness activities give you the time to get to know your co-adventurer and build the trust needed to do the hard work of self-improvement.
This approach can often work for people who have not benefited from previous office based therapy sessions.

Group work based: - Advanced Wilderness Theraputic Techniques
Working with small groups this therapeutic practice uses carefully selected activities to help members work on their therapeutic needs.
These methods draw from art, and creative techniques, play techniques, using the "wilderness" as a mirror and a range of other tools, to encourage self reflection.
Techniques selected are Trauma-informed, Neurodiversity-affirmative, and apply techniques from attachment theory and early years developmental theory and schema theory to identify individuals needs and help them to build a more centred and stable base from which to face the world.
These tools are feedback informed, and have proven efficacy.
